Monologuist Mike Daisey was once devoted to Apple products. Then, one day, he “started to think, and that’s always a problem for any religion.” He began to question how his favorite products were put together, so he traveled to China with hopes of finding out. What he saw was shocking. If you own an Apple device (which I’m betting you do), you need to listen to this episode of This American Life. [Image]

I just listened to this episode of TAL on my commute today and I can’t recommend it enough. I stopped at one point on my walk from the subway and looked at my iPhone, took it out of its case, turned it over and read “Assembled in China” on the back. Listening to Mike Daisey’s account in my headphones and I realized I hadn’t a clue what that truly meant before now.

“More things are made by hand now than ever before in history.”

I cannot suggest listening to this enough. Everyone who has an apple product, or really any technology made in China - dell included, should listen to this.

About Me
I am Audra. I am a twenty-something post-grad person who works with soils and wetlands and lives in N. Florida. Working with soils and wetlands is as fast-paced and action packed as it sounds. I share a nice little house with my pet cat.

I tend to be a mix of optimistic and silly. My dream for the future is to slowly lose my mind. So far... dream is looking good
